"The 30 Things list-
a heartfelt and humorous inventory of what every woman really needs in life-
started as a single page in Glamour magazine fifteen years ago and
quickly developed into a viral phenomenon. Here, that world-famous list gets new
life with essays by some of our favorite women, from Portia de Rossi to Liz
Smith. No matter your age, this is a list to live by."
Some of the lessons
you'll find inside...
"Making peace with my
past was the first step; being grateful for it was the second." -Lisa Ling
"The ability to
accept and adapt gracefully to life's twists and turns is one of the greatest
skills you'll learn. Should you plan for the things you want? Absolutely. But if
you're not exactly where you wanted to be, exactly when you wanted to be there,
don't sweat it." -Katie Couric
My mom actually
picked this book up for me because she knew I was struggling with my age when my
last birthday rolled around in April. This was such an easy read- I finished it
in just two sittings- it was that good. It shed a lot of light on
various issues/thoughts/ideas that have been swirling around in my head. Not
only was it nice to feel as though I'm not alone but I was able to gain some
insight and develop a new perspective on things. I have most of the items
checked off of the list so for the next couple of years my goal is to knock the
rest off of the list. Turning the big 30 won't be that bad BUT I'm still in no
way looking forward to it.
I definitely
recommend it whether you're years away from thirty or past the milestone mark.
