Academy Award Winning Gowns and MPM

Anyone else watch the awards last night? I like watching the pre-shows more than the actual awards because I like to see the interviews and of course, I want to see what, or should I say who, everyone is wearing. Here are my picks for the Academy Award winning gowns of the evening:
Michelle Williams in Vouis Vuitton
-This beautiful coral color looks great on her and I am a sucker for the peplum look.-
Emma Stone in Giambattista
-I love the bow and the color is beautiful.-
Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera
-I always seem to love Carolina's designs the most.-
I think for once, the hosts were dressed better than most of the celeberties or at least I favored thier looks over a lot of the celeberties styles this year.
Louise Roe in Black Halo
-I think this is the perfect dress to wear as a host, it's professional but at the same time so glamorous.
I really loved her hair too-

Selita Ebanks in Christian Siriano
-She hosted with Ross Matthews (who I adore, btw) and her dress was really beautiful, especially from a side view.
I love that shade of yellow and it looks great on her too.-
This is the best picture of her that I could find though, unfortunately.

Guiliana Rancic in Tony Ward Couture
-I love Guiliana and I think she looks stunning in this gown. I especially love the neckline and the sleeves and the fact this it is my favorite shape- mermaid!-

On a totally unrelated note, let's move onto Meal Planning Monday, otherwise known as MPM.

The Little Things

Revlon Nail Enamel in Siren
I don't know about you but I am so ready for bright colored nails again! I have wanted to try a coral color for some time now and I am so excited to wear this (with a tan)!.

Revlon Liquid Quick Dry
-...because I have no patience when it comes to waitng for polish to dry and this stuff is perferfect for people like me-
T.N Dickinson's Witch Hazel
-I came across a pin on Pinterest which sparked me to read a few articles about Witch Hazel. When used as an astringent, it is supposed to shrink your pores, I've been using it about a week now and I have noticed a slight difference. So here's hoping that it keeps working!-

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips
-Speaking of shrinking pore size, I'm back to the old tried and true pore strips. I haven't used these things in years but I thought I'd give them another go.-

Crabtree & Evelyn Lavender Hand Therapy
-I am in love with this cream. I put in on every night before bed, not only does it make your hands feel amazing, but the scent is so calming and relaxing.-

Happy Valentine's Day!

yummy cupcakes I made

presents for my husband
Just to clarify, the bear is mine, he's just sitting there for the photo op.

...and my husband surprised me with 2 boxes of french macaroons, my favorite!

an assorted box

and a box of "Sweetheart Macaroons"

How cute are the boxes that they came in?!

Some of them are painted with glitter!

This one reminds me of a mini cheeseburger.

We are heading out to a fancy schmancy dinner later tonight at a cute Italian restaurant.
What are you V-Day plans?

Meal Planning Monday (& The Vow!)

Meal planning was a huge success for me last week so I'm back at it again this week. It was really nice to not have to think about what to make during the week and it was also really nice to have all of the ingredients on hand too. For me, meal planning is definitely worth it and my husband is enjoying it too. He likes looking forward to what's on the menu, kind of like when you were in school and they posted what was for lunch that week...ohhhh memories!

Tuesday: We have dinner reservations at an Italian restaurant for Valentine's Day!

Wednesday: Giada's Chicken Piccata

Thursday: I'll be out of town. So dinner will be either takeout, Uncle Ben's Instant Rice, or pasta

Friday: I'll be getting back into town, and we usually have takeout on Fridays anyway.

Saturday: Brushetta Grilled Chicken

Sunday: "Let's Make a Baby Pasta" w/ Sausage
How about that for a title? I found this recipe in Glamour magazine and according to the article it works! Click Here for the recipe.

We went to see The Vow on Saturday night and it was so good! It was sappy, sweet, romantic, everything you could ask for in a date night movie for this time of year. I love Rachel McAdams and who doesn't love Channing Tatum?!
Have you seen it yet? What did you think of it?

Ready for Spring!

I don't know about you, but I am so over these cold, dreary winter days. We haven't had much snow (yet) and it has been a pretty mild winter so far, well for when I live anyway, but I am ready for spring! All of the stores are bringing out their brightly colored, cheery spring clothes and I want to buy them and wear them; like, right now because I have no patience. This spring and summer I am going to embrace the colorful skirts, pants, and shorts. I'm so happy that neon colors are back (hello, early 90's!) but I am a sucker for pastel colors too.

Meal Planning Monday

I'm teaming up with fellow blogger, Kristin from Busy Bee for Meal Planning Monday. In an effort to expand our dinner options, get more use out of my cook books, and organize a grocery list (so I don't have to run out the the store in the middle of cooking); I am going to start planning out my meals for the week every Sunday. Well I'm going to give it a go at least, starting with this week and we'll see how it goes.
So here's the dinner menu for this week:
Monday: Panko Chicken w/ Lemon & Mashed Potatoes
I actually found this recipe in Glamour magazine. It's really easy and delicious too. You dregde the cutlets through egg, then coat with Panko breadcrumbs, fry, sprinkle with salt, squeeze some lemon juice over the cutlets and viola!
Tuesday: Skinny Pasta Al Burro with Broiled Chicken (from the cookbook, Skinny Italian)
You can find the recipe here.
Wednesday: Chili
I mix ground beef, McCormick Chili Seasoning, garbanzo beans, red kidney beans, onion, garlic, salt, and a little pepper and simmer it on the stove for about 45 minutes.
Thursday: left over Chili
Friday: takeout- Pizza Night!
Saturday: Gabriella's Chicken Parmigiana (from the cookbook, Fabulicious!)
Sunday: Butterfly Basil Chicken (also from Fabulicious!)

I have so many recipes bookmarked in my Skinny Italian and Fabulicious! cookbooks because of the obvious- they look and sound delicious but also because they are practical. Some of the cookbooks that I have require so many steps that it's impossible to find the time to make them during the week. Another complaint that I have about most cook books is that their recipes require strange ingredients that I have never heard of and certainly have no idea where to find them in the grocery store either! Can you relate to this too?

Are there any other great cookbooks out there with practical recipes? Let me know because I'm always looking for new recipes so we don't get stuck in a rut of eating the same old thing every week. Unlike my husband, I can't "freestyle" a recipe, I have to follow a recipe by the book, line for line. I'm can't make stuff up off the top of my head like he can; well I can but does it taste good? No.

Concert OOTD

I bought concert tickets for my husband for Christmas and last night was the show. We went to see Tool (his favorite band) at the Izod Center in New Jersey. He has never been to a concert (crazy, right?!) so I was so excited to experience his first concert with him. It was a really amazing show; I went in a skeptic and left a fan. Here's what I wore:
H&M Basic White TShirt
Miley/Max Azria Blazer (old)
Hollister Skinny Jeans
Strawberry (I think) Bangle Bracelets
House of Harlow Necklace

I love bangle bracelets but I never wear them because I hate how they clank around and make so much noise so I decided to (tightly) tie a ribbon around them to secure them and it worked- no noisy arm candy!

Kardashian Kollection Boots

Izod Center, NJ

Pre-Gaming in the car! We stopped at Wegman's and got some different beer to try. They have such a huge selection of beer that you really can't find anywhere else. Who would've thought?

Tick Tock Diner, NJ
We stopped for food on the way home. I had a delicious stack of french toast with bacon and my husband a juicy burger with fries.
What concert(s) have you been to lately?
