Home Sweet Home: Making Progress

I decided to play catch up on posting here and create a new series of posts- "Home Sweet Home." It will be all about the construction and makings of our new home. I'll continue this through we enter the design and decor phase too... so who knows this series will probably be ongoing for... ever.

We started with a forest full of trees, mostly skinny little birch trees that all needed to be cleared.
So here we are, let's start from the beginning:
The land was cleared.
This was all forest that we had to break through but it only took them a few days to clear it out and clear the area for the driveway. Amazing how fast all of this is coming together.
The driveway was put in. This only took two days to fully complete.
...and the drain pipes.
The foundation site was dug out.
It's a lot deeper than it looks in this picture.
The beginnings of a foundation.
Starting to pour concrete!
Foundation site is fully prepped.
Getting ready to pour the concrete walls of our basement and garage.
The foundation is complete!
Standing inside of our basement.
Now it's all starting to sink in.

Standing in the basement side looking out at the garage side toward the driveway.

So far this project is going lightning fast. Luckily, we have a great team working on our home and everyone is on the same page. We're now at the stage where there a some surprises that are popping up but we're so close to the finish line so that's to be expected. The biggest headache so far has been securing all of the permits and planning everything out based on the building code requirements.

The house will be delivered next week. In five pieces. Crazy, right? It's a modular home so most of it is pre-built at the factory. Next up in the photo series will be the crane setting the house. It looks like we will be "home" for the holidays after all. I'm so excited that Aubrey will have her first Christmas in our new home. This is the home where all of her memories will be made in so this fresh start came right in time for us.

Have you gone though the building process?
Do you have any tips or suggestions for us moving forward?
Feel free to share your experience, I'd love to hear all about it.

    1. More updates are coming along soon! It's been a lot of work but we've come a long way in a very short time considering how big of a project it is.

  3. Wow, what a beautiful area! The scenery is unreal. I have never been through anything like that, but hopefully one day we can move into a home, not a condo. I guess before we have a baby :)
