A Real Life Winter Wonderland

We were hit hard with this winter storm and we're still trying to dig our way out. It all started on Thursday morning and just kept coming. When I woke up on Friday morning everything that had been shoveled and plowed was completely covered again to the point where it looked like nothing had even been done. There is no way that you will see me at a gym anytime soon with all of the shoveling thats been going on over here. Shoveling is the worst but at least there were some fun moments like taking Aubrey sleigh riding and building a snowman.
Here she is enjoying the snow on Thursday.  She absolutely loves play sing in the snow, she was all smiles the whole time we were outside and she napped like rock when we came in.

This is what our front porch looked like when the snow stopped falling on Thursday, we got a break, I shoveled it all off and it literally looked like this Friday morning again.
Sweet little miss on Valentine's Day being festive with her heart sweater and new headband that I made for her.

This is how I found her -snuggling with all of the snow gear before we got dressed to go outside.
Just to give you and idea- here are my parent's cars for reference.
There's a picnic table under there somewhere.
My parents live within walking distance so we trudged through the snow for a visit. We had dinner together and celebrated my brother's 20th birthday.
...and this is what my front yard looks like!
I am soooo over this white crap and so ready for springtime, flowers, pastels, and warmer weather.

Pink Picks for V-Day and Every Day

Happy Valentine's Day.
We are snowed the he** in over here so we're not going anywhere. What do you do when you're snowed in you ask? Grab a cup of hot chocolate topped with some marshmallows, a cupcake, and your credit card and curl up with the iPad for some "me time" and online shopping; that's what.

Pink is not just for Valentine's Day, not in my world anyway. Maybe these purchases were influenced by the day of hearts, love, and chocolates but in reality I've been wanting these babies for a while now and I finally pulled the trigger. And I quickly pulled the trigger because these boots are on a crazy sale right now at Nordstroms.

I'm a shortie and my 5'2'' self just can't make the women's Hunters work so I opted for a pair of kids Hunters instead. I know that I could've gotten the Women's Short Boot style but the kids version is actually 2 1/2 inches taller (which is perfect for me) and the calf circumference is slightly smaller too.  Of course, I had to get the matching welly fleece socks too.

Aubrey has a pair of new moccs coming in the mail as well. Ittie Bittie Moccs on etsy has the most adorable and affordable moccs. There is something about a baby/todder in moccasins that I just absolutely adore. Brittany is such a sweetheart too and she's super helpful. I was able to customize these moccs a bit and I just can't wait to get them in the mailbox.

Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle in Kiss of Pink

This is my new favorite pink nail polish. Hands down. It's the prettiest shade of pink, it's bright, cheery, and fun.

Peonies in the office. These are definitely staying year round. We just painted the office a pretty mint color and I love the way this pink pairs with it.

How cute is this little felt bag that I found in the dollar section at Target?! I fully intended on filling it with goodies for Aubrey's Valentine's Day gift but I procrastinated and now I'm snowed in so it looks like it will have to be a late gift.

...and what is Valentine's Day without cupcakes? These are Pink Velvet Cupcakes with Vanilla icing and they are perfection. I am obsessed with Pink Velvet! Everyone thinks I'm crazy and thinks it tastes like Red Velvet but the texture is different and the batter is too- it's a very moist cake (like red velvet) but the batter is super dense and fluffy. Either way it's delicious and I strongly encourage you to pick up a box of it; it's by Duncan Hines.

Valentine's Decor

Happy Valentine's Day Eve!

I've always loved decorating for the holidays but now that I have a little one I really enjoy doing it. Aubrey fully appreciates and admires decorations so that is even more of an incentive. I was able to re-use some of her ONEderland party decor for Valentine's day so that was a bonus and of course, I changed up the chalkboards too.

Sliding glass doors in breakfast nook.
Notice, we kept the snowflakes from her party because well, it is still very much a winter wonderland here.

Another decoration from her party with some sparkly red hearts added.

XOXO from Target (last year)

XOXO Banner from Target
Glass Vase from Michaels (last year)
...and here's a little peek into her playroom which I plan of fully decorating for each holiday as well.
Hanging Glittered Hearts from Dollar Tree with pink ribbon added for hanging
Rug from Target (last year)
btw Target's V-Day stuff this year was a little disappointing compared to last years selection, am I right?
Penguin/Heart Garland is a DIY- Foam Glitter Hearts from Target, Foam Penguins from Five Below

Table & Chairs from Ikea
(painted with Martha Stewart's Sea Glass)

I know, my chalkboard needs a better cleaning. First of all, I was in a rush to get this done during nap time and second of all- I need some tips on cleaning a whole huge wall because my method of using a wet and dry cloth is not cutting it.

Aubrey's Winter ONEderland Party

Well our little girl turned one on January 28th. A whole year gone in a flash. Her Winter ONEderland party was last weekend and she had so much fun. Little miss is such a social butterfly and she just loves having company over. In case you missed this post where I discussed my inspiration for her party and shared her invitation, you can check it out here. Her party was actually postponed because we were all feeling a little under the weather and ironically enough we had a real life winter wonderland going on outside but it all worked out and went off without a hitch the following weekend.

I had so much fun planning and decorating for her party. It's all about the little details with me and I'll take any excuse to do a craft project or decorate. I feel pretty good about her decor and choice of theme because Aubrey has been enjoying her decorations so much. The party room was decorated for about 2 weeks and everyday she would go in there and point at her decorations and giggle with excitement. That being said, many of those decorations will be transferred to her play room for the time being and some will double as Valentine's decor too. Anyway, enough rambling, here are the party pics:

Tutu- Babies R' Us

Favors and Aubrey's tree displaying photos from each month of her precious little life.

Cookie Party Favors

Hot Chocolate Bar
with White Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Chips and Marshmallows

Just like any other special holiday or event, the day flew by but it was such a fun day and the birthday girl definitely had a great time at her party. As for me, I'm still not over the fact that my little girl is technically not a "baby" anymore, "toddler" just isn't in my vocabulary yet.

Pink Champagne

Oh my goodness it's been forever but I finally have an OOTD and FOTD that is post worthy. It's been so cold and snowy here and I feel like I've been trapped on this mountain forever. Today, today is the day that we are finally getting a break and venturing out to the "big city" to do some shopping and run some errands. I know it probably sounds like I'm living a real life of Little House on the Prairie and I'm not but some days it really does seem like it! Winters here are brutal and when you can finally get out of the house (and out of your yoga pants)- it calls for a celebration.

Sweater- Old Navy (last year)
Jeans- Hollister
Necklace- Group Dealz
Boots- Fergie

I rediscovered a lipstick and fell back in love with it. It's the perfect Valentine's Day shade so I found it just in time. It's by Rimmel and the shade is Pink Champagne. I almost always put a lip gloss over lipstick so I layered this lipstick with Nars Turkish Delight.
Ever forget that you have something and then find and become excited all over again as if it's a new purchase? I love when that happens.
